Within our body we house numerous elements.
Remnants of the star dust we are all built from, gathered inside the heart of a dying star, thrust across the cosmos, super heated, and scattered into an infinite number of particles, which all make up the base elements of who we are.
For centuries, alchemists have been searching for the recipe for the philosophers stone.
Rather than being an actual stone, it’s often said to be a recipe for a tincture or powder, which holds miraculous magick.
It’s said that this recipe takes base metals and other elements, and transmutes them into gold.
It was also said to be an elixir of life, capable of rejuvenating us, and even giving eternal life.
But what if WE are actually the philosopher’s stone?
The calcium we hold in our teeth and bones came from a supernova, caused by a collapsing star. We all have about 1.12kg of calcium in our bodies. In fact, pretty much all of the calcium on earth, comes from the superheated explosion of one particular star called SN 2019ehk.
We have around 52kg of oxygen each. Trees and plants produce about 28% of the oxygen we breathe, so where does the rest come from?
Well, pretty much most of the oxygen, around 72% contained in our bodies, was produced by phytoplankton living in our oceans.
We have about 14.4kg of carbon inside of us. It’s what gives all living things their structure.
But all carbon seems to have come about from Earth’s collision with a much smaller planet about 4.4 billion years ago.
We have a whole host of other minerals and metals which all combine together to make us who we are.
But what is fascinating is that recently, it’s been discovered that all of us actually sweat tiny amounts of pure gold!
The trace amounts of gold are too small to be useful or valuable, but we excrete it through our sweat, hair growth and the shedding of our skin.
For the average human weighing about 150IBs or 68kg, the amount of gold within us is about .2milligrams.
There doesn’t seem to be any specific biological use for this precious material, rather it’s just a leftover byproduct of our cosmic origins.
There still so many mysterious wrapped up the skin we’re in, but it’s safe to say, we are all cosmic beings who are made from the stuff of the stars, each unique, and capable of transmuting raw elements into gold.
Magick, indeed!
